About the event
Join us for a 5-day & 4-night tour of a lifetime.
Day 1 - Arrive PE on early flight. Meet and greet. Transfer, or meet at Uitenhage Golf Club. Quick change, light breakfast snacks, then leave by 10am at the very latest. Destination Camp Figtree in the Zuurberg Mountains. Enjoy the absolutely breathtaking views, scenery and hospitality, and of course the last climb to Camp Figtree - EISH.
(Day 1 distance - 61km)
Day 2 - After and enjoyable stay and Camp Figtree, we head off to enjoy the single track that forms part of the Great Zuurberg Trek.
From there we journey over the Zuurberg Mountain Pass, past the Zuurberg Lodge, and on to Barefoot Addo Lodge, owned by German Actor, Til Schweiger. Here you will be treated to an elephant encounter getting close to, and being able to feed the elephants, as well as watching them play in the mud. This will be our mid-morning stop, some 35km into the ride.
From there, we ride through the stunning Krom River Valley on to to tiny village called Alicedale. The views in the Krom River Valley are simply breathtaking. Then we portage and to our home for the night, Buffalo Kloof, our “home” for two nights; with more than a few rhinos, buffalo and ellies on the property. Need we say any more.
(Day 2 distance - 60km)
Day 3 - After an early morning game drive, we will set off for a ride within the Bufflao Kloof property. Here you have a choice from 20km to 80km - the choice is yours. It’s then back to the lodge, and time to relax and take in some of the awesome views.
(Day 3 distance - Your choice)
Day 4 - After our second early morning game drive and a scrumptious breakfast, we sadly say goodbye to Buffalo Kloof. We now have Kenton in our sights. But not before enjoying some of the passes and a few fun descents and climbs.
Most of the journey will be on farm roads, but things get exciting as we approach the Kariega River. Then it's on to the banks of the Bushman's River. And here a number of surprises await... But you will have to wait until you get there to find out.
Our home for the next two nights will be a collection of private luxury homes situated on the banks of the Bushman's River, with awesome hospitality awaiting.
(Day 4 distance - 63km)
Day 5 - This is an interesting ride through the various farms in the region to Bathurst, a small village well known for its pineapples. What Bathurst is more famous for, our destination for the day, is The Pig & Whistle, the oldest Pub in South Africa. Again… Need we say any more….
